Geraldine Leola Jones 1933-2003
| Geraldine Leola Jones, 69, of Mad River died on July 11, 2003, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 6, 1933 in Duluth, Minnesota, to Benjamin and Alice McGovern. She lived in Minnesota until 1969 when she moved to the Bay Area. In 1970, she began work for the United States Postal Service. In 1986, she moved to Mad River and became the Postmaster there. She loved to serve people and enjoyed her position for 17 years. She is survived by her children Bonnie Fyle of Finlayson, Minnesota, Wally Wallgren of Redding, Steven Wallgren of Mad River, Wana Jones of Fortuna, Donna Jones of Fortuna, and Joe Jones of Fortuna. Her grandchildren are Kelly, Bryon, Kim, Michael, Justina, Matthew, Benjamin, Paul, Melissa, Bethany and Brendon. Her great-grandchildren are Cody, Trinity and Alexis. Her siblings are Jean, Ben, Lois, Linda, Nita, Jim and David. Her friends were many. Grammy, thanks for the hugs and kisses that you always had ready. You will truly be missed. We love you. A memorial service was held July 13, 2003, at Lamb Creek Christian Center in Mad River. |
